Rules and Regulations
Rules governing the use of the KSL Library.
Access
All library users must be current registered students of the School, faculty and administration staff. Access is subject to production of a valid student card at all times.
Borrowing and Return of Materials
- The student ID must be produced to borrow a resource; borrowing using other persons’ ID cards is not allowed.
- Patrons may borrow two books at a time for a period of one week. The due date is stamped on the book on borrowing.
- Late returns attract a fine of Kshs 20/- per hour for short loans and Kshs 20/- per day for normal loans.
- Patrons must settle any overdue loan before borrowing again; overdue fines or lost books will be denied clearance until settled.
Security
- All luggage must be left at the luggage zone and patrons issued with a tag. The Library is not liable for loss of personal belongings.
- On leaving, patrons may be required to produce borrowed items for inspection and be frisked.
- Lost luggage tags are replaced at a cost of Kshs 500 each.
- The library premises are under 24/7 CCTV surveillance.
Library Ambience
- Silence must be strictly observed; cell phones are switched off or on mute.
- Liquids, food, razor blades, scissors and weapons are not allowed.
Reserve Collection
Core ATP and Paralegal resources issued on short loan basis, only with express authority of the Librarian or Assistant Librarian.
Electronic Resource Centre
- Only one user per computer; no reservation of computers.
- Computers shall be used for academic purposes only; no installing/uninstalling programs.
Loss and Damage
Patrons are liable for materials charged to their accounts and will replace lost/damaged materials or pay the current market price plus Kshs 500 processing charge.
